Choosing the anti-fouling
The severity of fouling can vary dramatically depending on temperature, water salinity, water flow, time of year and amount of sunlight. To make the choice easier for you, SEAJET Anti-foulings are designed to cope with a wide spectrum of fouling. We have three types of product:
Self-Polishing Anti-fouling - the normal choice
This includes SEAJET 033 SHOGUN, Seajet 034 EMPEROR and SEAJET 039 PLATINUM. Expect high performance because the surface is constantly eroding, which exposes fresh active compounds (called biocides) to dissuade any fouling from attaching. It is ideal for yachts and motorboats up to 40 knots. This polishing mechanism allows SEAJET anti-fouling to last for 2 years or more in normal conditions. Just high-pressure wash to revive them. SEAJET 039 PLATINUM provides a jump in performance, even compared to SEAJET 033 SHOGUN. This is due to our unique, patented new resin technology, which makes the self-polishing mechanism so predictable overtime that we can apply SEAJET 039 PLATINUM to protect for three years or more. We also use the latest generation biocides to achieve maximum performance against all fouling types.
Hard Anti-fouling - the budget choice
This include SEAJET 037 COASTAL Anti-fouling. This product does not polish or erode. Instead, the biocide leaches out, like water from a sponge. Expect moderate performance and a more economical price. Their harder consistency makes them suitable for drying moorings. Were commend coating annually. SEAJET 37 COASTAL is suitable for yachts and motorboats up to 70 knots.
Biocide Free - the future
SEAJET has been developing Biocide free underwater coatings for several years. At the moment, two technologies are available:
1. Foul release technology
2. Self polishing technology
With Foul release technology (silicone based) slime can attach to the hull. A sponge easily removes this. It is suitable for all kinds of boats including motor-boats up to 30 knots. For the self polishing technology we recommend to use iton sailing boats and slow motorboats. As this products polishes quicker than a normal biocide containing antifouling we recommend to apply one additional coat.
